In the age of satellite-based navigation
(almost) every golfer also has a corresponding GPS / Glonass and / or
Galileo range finder in his golf bag.
This magic box measures the direct distance from the current position to the
center of golf
green. Sometimes you have
to play "around the
corner" - so that the distance information does not necessarily
correspond to the possibility of playing.
In addition to the physical errors of the location determination there
are also simple geometrical problems which are creating
additional errors. This small treatise is intended to draw attention to the major errors that occur especially at close range and to encourage golfers to take their laser-based optical distance measuring device out of their pockets. |

Presentation | A small 10-page treatise with a file size of 0.5 MB - again sorry, only in German |
Data | Some geometry with an Excel spreadsheet |
Notes |
Satellite-based navigation is dependent on the
physical propagation conditions of the electromagnetic waves.
That is why there are fluctuations depending on
the weather. Sometimes the
optical look is just more precise. July 2015 |
